The world of the mole was inspired by a real case and incredible helplessness.
The initial impulse for the creation of Krtek's world was the real case of Josef Roušal, the owner of a Prague amusement park, according to director Eva Toulová. He has been refusing for years to accept the verdicts of state authorities that he operates his business without the necessary permits and infrastructure. "The lengthy and exhausting Czech bureaucracy is a major issue that affects us all, but we feel that we can do nothing about it. Thanks to the case of Krtek's world, I came across the real figure of Josef Roušal, who has decided to stand up to the authorities in a completely unique way. He is engaged in an incredible long-standing dispute with many institutions, yet he does not give up and does not lose faith," says Eva Toulová, for whom Krtek's world is already her sixth feature film.
