Winter in Vsetín – mountain hotel Vsacký Cáb and Nordic ski center

In the western part of the Beskids, between the Rožnov and Vsetín Bečva rivers, in the midst of the mountainous Wallachia, lies the picturesque area of Vsacký Cáb with its namesake cottage at an elevation of 842 m above sea level.

New edition

Thanks to its excellent location, it has the largest tourist, cycling, and winter cross-country skiing trail intersections in the Beskids. The main ridge trail, the Beskydy Magistral, marked in red, starts in Třinec and ends in Vsetín. There is easy year-round access by vehicle (including bus). There is parking at the hotel, large grassy fields, playgrounds, and outdoor fire pits. The hotel is equipped with rooms with private facilities and suite rooms, a sauna, and a whirlpool. The local home cuisine with Wallachian fireplace specialties is excellent.

In winter, it becomes a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Notoriously known among skiers is the fifty-kilometer Beskydy Valašská 50: a race organized by KČT along the ridge from Bumbálka through Třeštík, Benešky, Soláň, Vsacký Cáb, and Dušná to Vsetín.

You will also find shorter recreational trails:

Dušná – Vsacký Cáb, 5 km: the trail runs off the road and is groomed by a snowcat.

Around Vsacký Cáb, 7 km: from the parking lot at the hotel to the Ptáčnice crossroads, to the Baťa educational trail to Cábské jezírko and back.

The film "9 Million Colors" about the friendship between a carnivorous shrimp and a blind fish has traveled the world and will be shown for the first time in the Czech Republic with a concert by Floex Ensemble.

An animated underwater musical with 9 million colors, created in a Czech-Norwegian-German co-production, will be presented for the first time in the Czech Republic as part of a special premiere combined with a concert by Floex Ensemble. The talented composer, producer, and clarinetist Tomáš Dvořák, aka Floex, is the author of the music for this first Czech wordless musical. It tells the story of a blind fish named Milva and a fearless carnivorous shrimp named Fran, who mercilessly chops everything that comes her way under the ocean's surface – crabs, turtles, and large fish. Until she meets Milva... The film, directed by Bára Anna Stejskalová, has already toured sixteen international festivals before its release in the Czech Republic, including the prestigious one in Annecy, where it was screened at the opening.

Nuremberg: Rami Malek and Russell Crowe in a psychological duel set against the backdrop of a trial that changed the course of justice.

The thrilling historical drama Nuremberg brings to the screen one of the most significant trials of the 20th century through the eyes of a young American psychiatrist who finds himself face to face with Nazi leaders led by Hermann Göring. The star-studded film featuring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Michael Shannon follows not only the fight for justice but also a dangerously fascinating encounter with a man trying to "argue away" his own guilt from history. The film, which aims to become one of the most discussed films at the beginning of next year, will be released in Czech cinemas on January 15, 2026, distributed by Falcon.

YEAR IN THE WORLD. A YOUNG GIBBON FROM ZOOPRAHA HAS RECEIVED THE SYMBOLIC NAME BAYU.

Friday the thirteenth – a lucky day for the silver gibbons at Prague Zoo. Last December, the experienced female Alang Alang gave birth to her fourth offspring. The energetic nature of the male, now named Bayu by the keepers, is reflected in his name, which means "wind" in Indonesian. The curious and playful young male stands out for his fearlessness and is training in the typical brachiation for gibbons. The first offspring of this endangered species was born at the Prague Zoo ten years ago, marking the first addition of its kind in the Czech Republic.
