KUTNÁ HORA: A WINTER ESCAPE FROM PRAGUE

KUTNÁ HORA: A WINTER ESCAPE FROM PRAGUE

Looking for a different side of the Czech Republic beyond Prague? In winter, Kutná Hora slows down and reveals a quieter kind of charm. From November to December, its historic centre brings together medieval architecture, Advent traditions, music, design and the scent of mulled wine. With fewer visitors than in summer, it is an ideal time to explore the city’s heritage at a more relaxed pace.

HISTORY WITHOUT THE CROWDS

November is the last opportunity of the year to visit Hrádek and discover the story of Kutná Hora’s silver mining and silversmithing. Pair it with a walk through the historic centre and enjoy the city’s landmarks in a calmer atmosphere.

DESIGN MEETS ADVENT

Contemporary culture also has its place here. On 28 November 2026, ADVENT–DESIGN–GASK takes over the former Jesuit College, bringing together original design, creative gifts and a festive atmosphere in a remarkable historic setting.

CHRISTMAS IN THE OLD TOWN

In December, Advent takes over the city. Christmas markets fill the courtyard of the Italian Court on Advent Sundays with crafts, food and a programme of events. On 5, 12 and 19 December, Palackého Square comes alive with Kutná Hora Music Advent, combining market stalls with live music and concerts.

But winter in Kutná Hora is about more than Christmas markets. Shorter days bring a special atmosphere to its illuminated streets, towers and the silhouette of St Barbara’s Cathedral, while cafés, restaurants, galleries and museums offer plenty of reasons to linger. UNESCO-listed heritage, culture, food and an intimate Advent mood make Kutná Hora a rewarding winter escape.

Taste Mělnicko: Sometimes all it takes for good food is just to take a turn off the road.

How many times do we pass by an interesting place without even noticing it? And how many times do we search for good food somewhere far away, even though we have it almost around the corner? This idea gave rise to the project Taste Mělnicko, which connects gastronomy with travel and shows our region in a slightly different way.

Morricone conducts Morricone. Tickets for the exceptional concert in Prague are disappearing at an astonishing rate!

There are melodies where just a few initial notes can instantly conjure an entire film in front of your eyes. The music of Ennio Morricone has long transcended the boundaries of the movie screen. On November 10, it will resonate in Bratislava at the Tipos Arena, and a day later, on November 11, it will also be performed in Prague at the O2 Universe, conducted by the person who has the closest relationship to it, the orchestra led by the famous composer’s son, Andrea Morricone. Interest in this extraordinary concert is high, and tickets are disappearing from sale at a dizzying pace. The opportunity to experience immortal film melodies live, performed by top musicians who personally collaborated with the Maestro, is becoming increasingly rare.
