The film practically doesn't let us catch our breath. The atmosphere thickens with each passing scene, and Spielberg works very well with the tension and the audience's expectations. A significant part of this is also due to the excellent performances led by Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, and Colin Firth.
What we enjoyed the most was the film's ability to keep the viewer in uncertainty. You constantly feel like you're about to learn something crucial, and the film cleverly plays with this expectation. Although the runtime exceeds two hours, the pace remains brisk, and the plot does not lose momentum.
We have a minor reservation about the ending itself. After building up the tension very strongly, we were expecting a more pronounced climax. The finale certainly does not disappoint, but after such a well-played game, it feels a bit more cautious than the entire story deserves.
Nevertheless, it is one of the most interesting sci-fi thrillers of this year and proof that Spielberg still knows how to tell great stories that make audiences think long after leaving the cinema.
