Autumn in the Krkonoš Mountains at a more relaxed pace. October on the Trail will be dedicated to seniors.

Indian summer, colorful forests, and fewer visitors than during the main holiday season. October offers an opportunity to enjoy the mountains in a more relaxed pace in the Krkonošsko region. The Tree Top Trail in the Krkonoš mountains is dedicating the entire month to seniors. They can bring one additional visitor for free with their ticket – a partner, a friend, or even a grandchild. The October event can thus be an opportunity not only for a trip into nature but also for a day spent together across generations.

New edition

Autumn is one of the seasons in the Krkonoš Mountains when the character of the mountains changes significantly. The summer hustle and bustle gives way, the forests acquire autumn colors, and outings no longer have to be associated with the busiest weeks of the tourist season. Therefore, October can be suitable for people who enjoy active outdoor stays but also appreciate the opportunity to enjoy nature at their own pace.

The treetop walkway offers a view of the Krkonoš forest from a different perspective – from its roots to the tops of the trees. The entire route is barrier-free, making it easily accessible for visitors who prefer a more comfortable pace or have limited mobility. The visit also includes stops dedicated to the local nature and how the forest functions and changes.

The Treetop Walk is also connected to the Bear Trail, which expands the visit with another perspective on Krkonoš nature and large predators. Visitors can observe bears Alice and Michal here and learn more about the lives of bears and other European predators through the exhibition. The area thus offers the opportunity to combine a peaceful autumn walk with nature exploration and spend a larger part of the day on site.

“We love October for its quieter atmosphere. The Krkonoš are different in autumn than during the holidays – more colorful, calmer, and one often has much more space to truly appreciate the forest itself. Therefore, we would like to encourage seniors to take a trip and come with someone they want to spend the day with. It doesn’t have to be another senior. It can be a partner, a friend, a daughter or son, but also a grandchild,” says Miroslav Matas, director of the Treetop Walk Krkonoš.

The Treetop Walk wants to support the time spent together across generations with its October event. For grandparents with grandchildren, the visit can be an opportunity to connect outdoor activities with nature exploration and a shared experience, which often lacks time during the regular work and school week.

Throughout October, a 1+1 free offer applies for individuals aged 65 and over. A senior can bring one additional visitor regardless of their age with their ticket. The offer is intended for both individuals and seniors who are visiting Krkonoš as part of clubs, associations, or organized groups.
