Summer cinema: Postřižiny

The grand finale of our summer cinema is here! On Friday, August 21, we will say goodbye to the holidays in Portheimka with the legendary and poetic classic "Postřižiny."

The mosaic of humorously toned events begins with one of the small rituals that spice up the happy marriage of Francin and Maryška. She is searching in the dim light of the bedroom for a small gift, which this time is a patent needle threader. Francin is the manager of a brewery in a small Czech town, and the next day he is guiding the board of directors around the brewery, introducing them to the situation and also the plans for the future. However, the board members pay more attention to the happenings in the brewery garden, where Maryška is energetically helping the butchers with the pig slaughter. Everyone is enchanted by the beautiful woman, especially Doctor Gruntorád. And when the gentlemen finish their tour, they ostentatiously express their distrust towards Francin and very willingly accept an invitation from the manager's wife to a pig slaughter feast, which stretches into the late evening. The next day, Francin faces another unpleasant surprise. His very eccentric and, above all, very noisy brother Pepin appears in the brewery courtyard. Francin senses an impending disaster. The first victim of Pepin will be the farmhand, who, following Pepin's advice on how to chop wood properly, ends up cutting off a finger. And he certainly does not realize that this is just the first of the accidents that await him every time he meets Pepin. Pepin finds a kindred spirit in Maryška with his crazy ideas. However, Francin does not like this, as he tries to ignore his brother's crazy ideas, but enough is enough... Admission is voluntary. We have non-alcoholic COOL beer for you for free (which fits perfectly with Postřižiny!) and you can purchase additional refreshments directly at the Portheimka café. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and come enjoy the last summer screening under the open sky with us!
