Literary-dramatic festival for children.
The Festival "Children, are you reading?!" was founded by publisher Iva Pecháčková in 2010, and its first editions took place at the Strahov Monastery, where the Memorial of National Literature was located at that time. "We wanted to show at the exhibition of books from the collections of the Memorial (now the Museum of Literature) how imaginative and artistically interesting books have been published by small independent publishers in our country since 1989, without readers having a broader awareness of it. Of course, the main goal is to provide children and adults with a shared experience of reading – that unique adventure that no digital technology can ever replace. It is also to remind that quality and inspiring children's books are still being created here that are worth reading," says I. Pecháčková. Originally a weekend event in Prague, in recent years it has grown into a nationwide platform lasting several weeks. The festival program annually reflects a selection of books from the catalog "Best Books for Children," compiled by a committee of independent experts and published by the Czech Section of IBBY along with SČKN. While the format of the festival and its guests change over time, its goal remains the same: to awaken (not only) children's interest in reading and a (lifetime) love for books. You can find the program HERE.

PRAGUE THAT FITS IN A SUITCASE

Czech glass, designer jewellery, original artwork or a fragrance created in Prague. A souvenir needn't recall famous landmarks; it can tell the story of today's city and the people who create here. Prague's best-known motifs appear almost everywhere. Still, the city's most interesting mementoes are often found a few streets away, in design shops, small galleries and local artists' studios. Here you can discover a Prague that draws on a strong craft tradition while interpreting it in a contemporary and sometimes surprisingly playful way.
